How I Help

Someone in your corner who's built one before

Self-building is a series of big decisions, most of which you've never had to make before. I help you make them with confidence — so you end up with the home you wanted, without the budget blowouts and the sleepless nights.

What I do

Plain and simple: I help you stay in control

I'm an independent adviser and project mentor for people building their own home. I don't pick up tools and I don't take a cut from anyone — I work for you. Depending on where you're up to, that can mean:

Sense-checking your budget

A realistic view of what your build will cost, including the bits people forget, so you're not caught out halfway through.

Getting the order right

Knowing what needs to happen when — and what happens if it doesn't — keeps your project moving and your money working.

Managing the trades and suppliers

How to choose them, what to agree up front, and how to hold them to it without falling out.

Being your second opinion

When a decision feels big or a quote feels off, you get someone experienced to talk it through with before you commit.

How it works

How working together looks

There's no big package to sign up to. We start with a conversation, agree what you need, and go from there.

1

We talk

A free, no-pressure call about your project and where you're up to.

2

I tell you straight

What I'd focus on, where the risks are, and how much of my help you actually need.

3

We work at your pace

One-off advice or ongoing support through the build — your call, with no monthly tie-in.

Who it's for

This is for you if…

You're building (or seriously planning to build) your own home and you want an experienced, independent head on your side. Whether you're at the daydreaming stage, deep in the build and worried, or determined to plan it right from the start — there's a way in for you.

No catch

What you won't get from me

No hard sell. No jargon to make it sound clever. No commission-driven "recommendations." And no lock-in. Just honest, experienced advice from someone who's stood exactly where you're standing.
